VA Will Introduce Major Sign In Changes for 2025

The VA is set to overhaul its online sign-in process in 2025, introducing two new secure options: Login.gov and ID.me. This move aims to simplify access and bolster security for veterans.

Streamlining Access and Enhancing Security

The VA's decision to reduce the number of sign-in options comes in response to feedback from veterans seeking a more straightforward system. By consolidating to Login.gov and ID.me, the VA also ensures compliance with the latest federal security standards, safeguarding veterans' information and benefits.

 Key Dates and Changes

  • Jan. 31, 2025: Veterans will no longer be able to use My HealtheVet user IDs and passwords to sign in. The My HealtheVet health portal will remain accessible, but users must adopt the new sign-in methods, Login.gov or ID.me.
  • Sept. 30, 2025: Veterans will no longer be able to use DS Logon usernames and passwords to log in.
  • New Requirements: Veterans will need to create accounts with either Login.gov or ID.me, using a unique email address and setting up multifactor authentication for added security.
